LVM on top of MDADM SCSI devices at boot time

Post by koco » 2008/10/06 09:27:17

Hi,

I have one problem.

I'm using SAN to connect external SCSI LUNs. When I disclose all luns to a system and :
- first: I assemble md array of same multipath devices (multiple path for each device)
- second: I assemble md array for mirroring the pair of multipath devices (storage aaray placement on different locations)
- third: on top of mirror LVM subsystem etc...
... and as it happens when I reboot such configuration, the system won't assemble all VG's in LVM and as consequence
system is unbootable.

--- Now these VG's are not needed at boot time, how do I avoid them?
OR
--- Is there a way to compile a new initrd which would run with such configuration and in that order ???

As I was trying to slove the problem, I saw that initrd checks devices only to /dev/sdo, but I have
many more of them in runtime. Any help appreciated...

It sounds like you should be using an RDAC driver which is what you do multipath with.

Mapping to each path with linux is not an option I'd suggest.

What hardware are you using?
