raid type and number of disks?!

Post by milkteeth » 2008/02/26 12:46:11

How can i see remotely(ssh) what raid( raid1, raid5 etc) a system has and how many disks are connected/being used and what capacity do they have in GB.

thanks a lot!

PS: cat /proc/mdstat shows nothing but i know that the system has some kind of raid setup
and 'lshw' is unfortunately not installed.

That would depend on what utilities came with the RAID controller.

but it is an existing system..... so i don't know what utilities came with the raid controller.
how can i know what utilities there might be. i gues there would be a set of commands from which i can make out if i can get info about my raid controller/harddisks.

lspci should give you info about your raid controller.
Then got to the manufacturers web site and look for
RHEL4 utilities and documentation.
