Phoenix USB smartcard reader (USB to Serial device)

Post by djkoelkast » 2008/02/14 16:06:12

Hi,

My server runs CentOS 4.6 and I'm happy with it, but it doesn't seem to do much with my USB smartcard reader (which is recognised as Phoenix USB to Serial device in other machines).

When I look at my DMESG on another server which runs Debian and on which the reader works it looks like this:
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usbcore: registered new driver usbserial
drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for generic
usbcore: registered new driver usbserial_generic
drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core
drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Ser$
ftdi_sio 1-2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.c: Detected FT232BM
usb 1-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0
usbcore: registered new driver ftdi_sio
drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.c: v1.4.3:USB FTDI Serial Converters Driver
On the CentOS machine it looks like this:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
So I assume I miss some kind of driver?
As I don't have any experience with CentOS (I've had Fedora which looks a like but it's years ago) I don't know what to do.
Can somebody help me out to get this working?

Thanks a lot!
