Hi,
We have a Dell PowerEdge 1950 server with CentOS 4.4.
The machine comes stock with 2 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet controllers. We don't use these.
We ordered our machine with a single PCI Express card which is a dual Intel Gigabit NIC.
We just added another PCI Express Gigabit dual NIC (as far as I can tell it is identical to the existing one).
However, the OS does not seem to detect the new network card.
Any thoughts on where we may have gone wrong?
Thanks!
Matt

Adding a dual NIC card to Dell PE 1950
Check you BIOS settings for PCI configuration.
lspci should show you what is installed in the slots.
dmesg may also provide useful information.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that neither lspci nor dmesg say anything about the two new Intel NICS; they only show the onboard Broadcom and the original two Intel NICs.
What is interesting, is that we have other machines with the same desired set up (two unused onboard Broadcom NICs, and two dual Intel PCI Express NICs). For those boxes, lscpi and dmesg show the four Intel NICs, but zero of the Broadcom NICs.

Looks like the card is totally dead. Thinking maybe the PCI slot was bad, we pulled the good Intel dual NIC and put the new one in its place. Not recognized either.
Thanks for the help!
