Hello Centos community!
My boss plans to buy a IBM x3650 and want to know if we can use it with the included hardware RAID controller.
I saw on theses links that the IBM x3650 is RHEL certified :
https://hardware.redhat.com/list.cgi?product=Red+Hat+Hardware+Certification&quicksearch=3650
http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/nos/redchat.html
I need some feedback about the following RAID Adapters : ServeRAID-8s and/or ServeRAID-8k.
If you're already using one of theses controller with a Centos Hardware RAID, I'll be really grateful to you to notify me if there's known issues.
_ The hardware RAID is supported out of the box?
_ Are they any performance issue with this RAID Controller?
_ Is the ServRAID Software certified working on Centos 4?
If there's no issues, I'm interested to have a feedback about a Centos install on a hardware RAID managed by a ServeRAID-8s and/or ServeRAID-8k.
Thank you for all your work and your availability.

IBM 3650 : ServeRAID-8k / ServeRAID-8s and hardware RAID.
IBM 3650 : ServeRAID-8k / ServeRAID-8s and hardware RAID.
I've installed a bunch of IBM System X servers, including x3650 ..
ServeRAID 8k is supported out-of-the-box with the ips module (included in every kernel ..)
You can monitor your hardware raid status by either :
- using the cli ipssend
- installing ServeRAID manager
- installing IBM Director serveraid agent (but you need a director server already installed somewhere ...)
If you posted in the CentOS 4 forum, that means you want to stick with that version for a specific reason (software reason i suppose ...)
So be sure to use the latest 4.x version (aka 4.5)
