Initio SATA Raid Card

Post by cdgcommerce » 2007/01/24 14:57:35

I just got an Initio SATA Raid Card 1622 but i can't figure out how to get it to work.
The bios sees my raid no problem but when trying to install the centos server CD it does not recognize it.
I have looked and so far have not found any drivers except maybe one that you have to compile.
Well compiling wont work as there is no OS on it yet.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I got another os to see it but i really dont want that version of linux. I would much prefer to keep with CentOS if at all possible. But my deadline is coming where i will have to just pick one soon if i can't get centOS to work.

A very interesting thread from the kernel dev guys regarding this card...

http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-ide@vger.kernel.org/msg02966.html

"Driver for Initio 162x SATA controllers. ATA r/w, ATAPI r, hotplug
and suspend/resume work. ATAPI w (recording, that is) broken. Feel
free to fix it, but be warned, this controller is weird."

They are talking about a 2.6.19 kernel patch (from just a few days ago).

You *MAY* be able to use some single drive to get going, search this forum for the kernel update threads (and pay attention to the cautions about required supporting updates) and try a brand new kernel... sorry...
