An error occurred trying to format VolGroup00/LogVol00 (SCSI

Post by Poooh » 2005/11/10 12:54:27

I am trying to install Centos 4.2 on a Dell 1420 with 2 processors, 1.5GB RAM, 1 SCSI disk, Dell SCSI RAID Perc320 card. It runs the installation and I
select auto partition; which it does fine but, when it comes to the
section

"Formatting / File System" I get the following error

"An error occurred trying to format VolGroup00/LogVol00. This problem is
serious, and the install can not continue. Press to reboot your
system"

I've tried the disk with an installation of Windows and there's no problem with it.

I've been searching all over Google, but no solution.

Any ideas?

Got the solution! ;) SCSI wire was chipped in a microscopical manner and worked "on and off" intermitently!

Best regards!

This is a very old thread (over four years old!) but from my reading of the OP two posts I deduce that it was a hardware fault -- a defective SCSI cable -- and it was fixed by replacing that cable.
