Install Sony SCSI SDT-9000 Tape driver

When you say that CentOS didn't recognize your DAT Drive, do you mean that you don't have any entries regarding this tape drive in your /var/log/messages ?
And what about your Scsi Adapter ? Can you see your DAT Drive in your host adapter bios ? Is your dat drive configured (good scsi id, etc ....) and well terminated ?
What is the result of cat /proc/scsi/scsi ?

Yes, i didn't have any thing in /var/log/messages
and no thing with dmesg or with cat /proc/scsi/scsi
In this Box, i have a dual boot , and when i boot with Windows , i have the Scsi Tape Reconized , and i can use it !
So, i think that the DAT Drive is well configuired (Bios ... )
But i can not see it in Linux :(
Kudzu is up ....

Thank you for your Help.

What is your scsi adapter ?
Do you see your adapter in Linux ?
What's the result of lspci ? of lsmod ?
I'm afraid that your scsi adapter module is not loaded under linux ...

For lsmod ...
lsmod | grep scsi , donne :
scsi_transport_spi 13761 0
ide_scsi 16713 0
scsi_mod 121293 7 sd_mod,scsi_transport_spi,cciss,aic7xxx,st,ide_scsi,sg

Thanks

It seems you have an Adaptec SCSI Card (i see module aic7xxx loaded) and i see also that you're working on a HP/Compaq proliant machine (HP/Compaq Smart Array module cciss is loaded also ..)
I had problems with my aic7xxx module (it freezed the CentOS 4.0 install) but that was related to an old bios/rompaq ...
I upgraded my bios and my scsi card firmware, and it works now without a problem .... (i have a DLT8000 connected to this Adaptec card).
I suppose that when you boot your server, Adaptec bios sees the DAT drive ...
Maybe try first to upgrade your bios and see after ... (Note that on my personal server, it worked with Fedora Core 1, but not anymore with CentOS 4.0 without upgrading my bios/firmware ...)
After that, boot your CentOS linux and issue the command cat /proc/scsi/scsi and your tape device should be listed ....
