Post by stelios » 2005/10/13 10:59:54

Hi guys,

Anyone with a raid sata card recommendation that is fully supported by CentOS 4.1 without needed to recomplie the kernel etc?
Price around $200 for RAID 1,5 (4 ports).

Any help is much appretiate.

SATA Hardware RAID controller recommendations

3ware 9500S-4
LSI Logic MegaRAID SATA 150-4

Those two cards are generally highly recommended - I have the 8-port version of the 3ware, very pleased.
I had quick look on newegg - 3ware is ~300, LSI logic is ~240 - I'm sure you could look search around some more, but either of those cards should be what your looking for (from what I can tell, more people seem posative in regards to 3ware over LSI - however I've seen people warn against one and advise the other in both cases - so just going by numbers).

Regards,

Sean

Any cheaper than these 2 with support for 2 SATA than 4?

I found these mentioned before around £250 in UK which is a little bit out of my budget.

Anything else?

Thanks a lot

For your reference, I have tried with Silicon Image 3112 and 3114 chip RAID card but they cannot work. They just work as controller card instead of RAID card even I create the RAID disk in BIOS.
