CentOS

Hi,
i installed centos4.5 on my server with h8dgi suer micro MOBO and dual 6272 processors. The machine runs fine except that it cannot look at the onboard LAN, I tried installing the LAN drivers from the MOBO CD and after too many trials I was actually able to make one of such machine see the LAN and was able to access the internet, I was unable to repeat the same for other similar machine as I lost track of what I did? although few resource are available on the internet but I am confused now. I assume it should be a straight forward procedure and I am missing something. It will be nice if any of the experts can tell me a step by step procedure (as I am not a computer expert) to make the OS recognize the LAN .

Do you really have to install CentOS-4? Its support ended in February, 2012. You should consider installing either CentOS-5 or -6.

Actually I tried higher versions but then it gives me problems with other things I need to run on the machine, so I don't have too many choices. :-(
