upgrade from 4 to 5?

Post by qwertyjjj » 2012/02/16 18:27:37

To upgrade from 4 to 5 can I simply just run this on the command line?
#yum upgrade yum kernel

How do I copy all my old iptables and scripts over to version 5?
Will upgrading affect my partitions and squid cache?

If this is the same system as your other thread where uname -r reports a kernel startin 2.6.18-x then you are already running CentOS 5. The CentOS 4 kernel was 2.6.9-X. In which case, both threads will be moved by your friendly neighbourhood moderators to the CentOS 5 forums in due course...

But it says: gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-48)

That's a GCC version which has nothing to do with the OS version. Provide the information as requested in your other thread.
