Upgrade MySQL from 4.1 to 5.1

Post by dbossesito » 2011/04/15 18:38:12

I have a new PE R210, and i want to run a copy of vtigerCRM. So i installed centos 4.8 (X86_64) for compatibility.
When i downloaded MySQL, i found that the version installed is the 4.1 but what i really need is the 5.1, cause i have
many functions on my DBs that MySQL 4.1 don't admit.

I has googled, but i cant find anything about upgrading mysql from 4.1 to 5.1.

Any help is apreciated.

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Reading FAQ & Readme First is recommended for new users.

Note that end of life for CentOS 4 is less than a year away so it is not really recommended for new installs.

In direct answer to your question, the recommended reading should lead you to the Repositories page where you can find 3rd party repos that have later packages. Jason Litka for one has 5.1 packages of EL4.
