Removed /etc/init.d directory

Post by firefox » 2011/05/23 03:31:13

Hi

I am a new user of Linux OS . I was messing up scripts to start up certain processes automatically. By mistake I deleted the /etc/init.d directory. I googled and found that /etc/init.d is a symlink to /etc/rc.d/init.d . So I created a symlink /etc/init.d which points to /etc/rc.d/init.d . I haven't experienced any problem until now , but just want to make sure creating the symlink is fine or I have completely messed up everything.

Thanks

As long as you pointed the link to the same thing that it originally was, which it sounds like you did, and you see the correct files in the directory you're fine.
