VPS with CentOS having LOW FPS

Post by newguylt » 2011/03/22 21:21:44

Don't know if this is the right section but I have bought a VPS with 1GB RAM, installed kdepim, java, nano, vncserver and it lags majorly... I mean FPS is low, when I try to do anything it lags really bad.. Checked 'top' and nothing uses much Memory or CPU, its allways laggy as hell as tho the pc was so slow and retarted.

I had a 512mb RAM VPS and it ran smoothly, but now changed to another host and it lags alot...

Some info on the vps:

Server Is IN USA
OpeNVZ VPS

Quad Core CPU
1GB RAM (Burstable to 1.5GB)
75GB Disk Space
1500GB Monthly Traffic
100Mbps Uplink
2 IP Address
---------------------------

So it runs on CentOS 5.3 32bit.
---

Any problem solvers or ideas how to check the cause of this lag?

Severely obsolete. CentOS 5.5 is current and 5.6 imminent.

My guess is that, aside from false advertising as to the OS, and an obsolete release, the provider has overloaded the physical hardware with too many virtual systems and it is bogging down.

Alright, so after I read "When CentOS Is Not CentOS" I found out that You are right, it is not a genuine CentOS, and it is a modified one.

^ So unless the provider cuts some VPS'es off, there is nothing I can do? :\
