KVM and High CPU load

Post by Zend » 2011/01/31 19:39:40

SW: Centos 5.5
Linux xx 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 17:52:25 EST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
HW: Intel S3200SH + Core 2 Quad Q9300

Installed KVM (cpu have VT-X support).

With virt-manager i create VM, but after starting VM CPU load always ~100% (even if the VM idle).
Knowledgeable people, tell me, why can this be?

KVM and High CPU load

It's hard to give advice with so little information.

If the guest was centos 5.5 with virtio drivers, then your experience is very abnormal.

If the guest was WinXP, then you can see some very strange behavior.

Other guests tend to fall somewhere in between.
