How to make Ctrl/Ins behave as Ctrl/C

I'm bashing my pretty little head over finding a way to make Ctrl/Ins
(Ins(ert) key on numeric keypad) behave as Ctrl/C (copy).

The same goes for it's counterpart Shift/Ins, to make that combination
behave as Ctrl/V (paste).

I've tried all kinds of settings, and found an interesting one:

select System / Preferences / Keyboard / tab Layout Options

select option Miscellaneous compatibility options,
and check option: Shift with numpad keys works as in MS Windows.

This enables marking/unmarking of entire lines using Ctrl/Up and Ctrl/Down
in your favorite X texteditor like GEdit (I use Gnome).

Unfortunately, typing Ctrl/Ins for copy, and Shift/Ins for paste does nothing.

I checked my other keyboard settings and layout, and those seem all okay.

Is there a way to enable these key combinations??

Welcome to the CentOS fora. The following reading is recommended for new users:

Have a look at "man xmodmap" and see if that helps.
