Apache missing PID file

Post by mvijfwinkel » 2008/09/07 17:31:08

Hi everybody!

I've switched from Debian to Centos for my webserver. So far this has gone very smooth, but now I've run into a little problem.

I want to monitor Apache with monit, but Apache doesn't always generate a .pid file. After a restart it creates /var/run/httpd.pid, but it seems to dissapear after some time. When that happens monit will restart Apache, until it has reached it's limit and stops monitoring. At all times Apache is running as it should, working perfectly and serving web pages.

Does somebody know what could cause the .pid file to dissapear?
