Set KeepAlive On for persistent connections or not?

Post by MajorNewbie » 2008/04/24 19:27:25

If my Apache web-server were to serve both .html and a number of .jpg-images per page, then is it advisable to set KeepAlive On?

Also the default TimeOut period of 120 seconds for KeepAlive seems awfully long whereas the default MaxKeepAlievRequests of 100 for a webserver on the low side.

Anyone with some comment or suggestions?

keep alive can help you but also can bother you

120 is to much
5 or 10 is more reasonable because the buildup of 1 page mostly is finished after that time
and the change that a user will klick to a next link within a small time is not so big
so persistent connections are not necessary in your case

if you have allot of unique visitors you should disable it
(because it can lock up to many workers at the same time and get out of free workers)

you must check the server-status on free workers at high load
