open port 80

Hi,

I have istalled Tomcat 5 on my server. It works in port 8080. I nedd to change from 8080 to 80.

How can I open port 80 ? Without iptable ?

Read your Tomcat documentation, and configure it to listen on port 80.
Make sure you don't have another web server listening on port 80.

When I try the log return

SEVERE: Error starting endpoint
java.net.BindException: Permission denied:80

Simply you could run it as root, but thats a potential security risk.
However you are in luck as there is a facility called jsvc which allows you to separate the listener.
