ReduntantWeb Services w/MySQL

Post by agrumpysnoozer » 2008/04/01 17:31:11

I've been tasked with bringing up a redundant web server in order to provide HA for our web clients. Is there a best practice for this? I had thought about hacking together a script to copy the required configurations and user homes for the web server and then restarting the services, but if there's a more elegant way to do it, I'd be interested in opinions.

We have a couple clients using Joomla, so I'm going to need to set up MySQL replication as well, but would a simple rsync of the users homes and httpd config files and a restart of the httpd daemon be sufficient to get the static pages up and running?

Two books come to mind:
Linux Enterprise Cluster by Karl Kopper ( No Starch Press )
and
High Performance Linux Clusters by Joseph D. Sloan ( O'Reilly )
