Welcome to CentOS.
New members need to read http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=47

The current version is 5.9. You really need to update.

CentOS does not install anything in /opt.
You have installed a program not compiled for CentOS 5.

Please read the links above about installing software and look for
a torrent server supplied by a repo such as epel or rpmforge.
Pay attention to the instructions on priorities when using foreign repos.
