Hi,
I'm using the current Centos version of Amanda (2.5.0.p2-4) to backup a Centos 5 system to a Centos 5 system. Set up and amdumps have gone without any problems, but now I'm trying to do a test restore. I am trying to restore the files to a holding area on the backup server itself, and when I try to do an amrecover I get the following message:
[root@backup SYS]# /usr/sbin/amrecover SYS -s backup.sfos
AMRECOVER Version 2.5.0p2. Contacting server on backup.sfos ...
amrecover: Unexpected end of file, check amindexd*debug on server backup.sfos
When I look in the amindexd debug file I see nothing helpful:
[root@backup amanda]# cat /var/log/amanda/amrecover.20070606132706.debug
amrecover: debug 1 pid 24844 ruid 0 euid 0: start at Wed Jun 6 13:27:06 2007
amrecover: bind_portrange2: trying port=950
amrecover: stream_client_privileged: connected to 10.0.0.67.10082
amrecover: stream_client_privileged: our side is 0.0.0.0.950
Thats it. I'm stumped. Has anyone experienced and/or solved this? Thanks.
Steve
amanda amrecover problem
Re: amanda amrecover problem
I figured it out and I have administered the appropriate dope slaps to myself. The entry libwrap entry in /etc/hosts.allow is not for "amandaidx" it is for "amindexd" -- which is plainly stated in /var/log/messages.
Jun 7 15:03:48 petit xinetd[29200]: libwrap refused connection to amandaidx (libwrap=amindexd) from 10.0.0.67
