Hello all !! Sometimes I receive this error at Centos 5.7 boot running as guest on Vmware Server 2:
..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
I reset VM once and then boot correctly. How can I resolve this issue? Do I need to pass "noapic acpi=noirq" in the kernel?
Thanks for your help.

centos 5.7 boot apic error
I have seen similar intermittent problems on VirtualBox in the past, but they seem to have disappeared on later versions. As VMware server has passed EOL and is no longer supported perhaps it is time to consider new virtualization methods.

Re: centos 5.7 boot apic error
Thanks. I know it is EOL but I have another host running the same version of guest Centos and Vmware Server and I don't have this problem. In the future I will change my servers but for the moment I prefer to know more about this error. Do you think the line "noapic acpi=noirq" will resolve my issue?
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.

I don't know, but it is certainly worth a try, particularly as all the test requires is adding the parameters to the kernel line in GRUB interactively at boot time.

Re: centos 5.7 boot apic error
I try it on a VM and it Works. Error doesn't appear, so I set it for every boot. I will try on the other VM and let you know if it is ok.
Thanks.
Thanks.
