LvieCD install without Network

Post by chuina » 2009/12/16 17:41:55

Hey, all

I'm new in CentOS5.4.
I've download the CentOS5.4 Live cd.
But it require the Network Connection for installing.
I've install Ubuntu and Fedora from Live CD. No Network Connection
were required.
So, is it possible to install CentOS5.4 without Network Connection ?
If yes plz tell me.

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, you cannot install from CentOS LiveCD. That feature may be included in a future release.

... however, you can install 5.4 without a network by downloading the CD or DVD installation media.

or for 64-bit

Thanks !!

Is it possible to connect to the network without the eth0 i.e. with my USB Mobidata modem.
or, with a proxy from a Windows Machine ? (it will be easier for me by USB modem)

I'm also trying to download the CD-1 of CentOS5.4.
Is the first CD enough for a minimal CD installation (without Network)?
Because, I have to installl it in my Hard Disk first.....then.......

Thanks Again.....

Perhaps. Using the LiveCD, please show the results of the "/sbin/lsusb" command without the USB modem, and then again with the USB modem. Related posts:

Don't know about a proxy, but perhaps using connection sharing.

You can do a very minimal install from CD#1 by unchecking everything in the installer options, but you had best be pretty proficient at the command line to expect to bootstrap up a networked system and install additional packages from that configuration. Best option would be a full install from CDs, or better the DVD if that is an option. If downloading/burning a DVD is a problem, consider buying one.
