Good Evening Everyone...
A little bit of background before my main problem
linux/unix experience :- NONE (although im getting there)
Server: CentOS5 virtual cloud server through 1and1.co.uk
I have installed the service via yum
I have set the config file to
listen=YES
anonymous_enable=NO
local_enable=YES
virtual_use_local_privs=YES
write_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=YES
secure_chroot_dir=/var/run/vsftpd
pam_service_name=vsftpd
guest_enable=YES
user_sub_token=$USER
local_root=/var/www/sites/$USER
chroot_local_user=YES
hide_ids=YES
as far as i know i havent changed anything else...
if i try to start/stop or restart the service it says failed, if i check status, its not started
I need to know where im going wrong...
if you need more information, can you list commands to find the info you need :)

You'd be amazed how many folks will post an issue, and two minutes later, figure it out--and find that it's something along those lines. Been there, done that, got the CD and the tshirt. :)
