firewall blocking port 25 connection?

Post by n0d » 2015/12/19 07:43:32

I am trying to install my VPS onto my ESP. All it takes it to provide credentials such as port number, ssl or tls or starttls or none, hostname and password.

When i do i am greeted with the message:
Connection could not be established with host mail.mydomain.xyz [Connection timed out #110]

I tried telnet 25 via putty and it said connection refused. I told my host if they could unblock port 25 and they said the following:
"We have checked and found that port 25 is not blocked for your server. Please check firewall setting of your server."

Since this vps is unmanaged I am not sure what I should be looking for in regards to firewall settings.

Can someone give me any tips on how to fix this issue?
I am running CentOS release 6.6 (Final)

Thanks
