smb connection to OS X Lion 10.7 client

Post by eXcalibre » 2011/10/28 15:09:44

Hi i know there are a few problems with OS X Lion (none Server) and the SMB Protocol at the moment, namely the dropping of SMB v1 to v2

as far as i am aware CentOS 5 uses smb v2 to do its browsing. yes?

now i apology's if I've got this wrong but isn't mount.cifs using the smb v2 protocol?

My issue is since updating the mac to OS X lion 10.7 the fstab mount i have in CentOS is no longer working.
I am getting error 22 when trying to mount the share with mount -a

CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22

This all worked fine until the lion update on the mac

any help appreciated

Sounds like the Mac is the server and not the client.

Apparently the smb2 protocol is not yet supported in CentOS 5, unless you have removed the default samba and installed samba3x packages. See Samba 4 now due in 2011; SMB2 and SMB/CIFS protocol docs done. SMB2 is supposed to fall back to version 1 if 2 is not supported, but perhaps there is an issue with the Mac implementation.

Why not use NFS?
