Hi Centos Expert,
I must use Centos 6.6 software due to existing software use,
after upgrading 9th i5 9600k recently, my Centos did not recognize it as CPU list since Centos 6.6 is old version.
How to install new hardware list to update it?
Any command to upgrade my Centos 6.6 ?
centos6.6 9th i5 cpu problem?
Re: centos6.6 9th i5 cpu problem?
The only way to get new hardware support is to update. CentOS 6.6 dates from October 2014 so is now 5 years old and has a raft of high severity security vulnerabilities present. You should not run it. It is dangerous.
The ONLY supported CentOS 6 is 6.10.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: centos6.6 9th i5 cpu problem?
It's very much more than a mere "cpu list" update. Your hardware is newer and therefore requires all the newer drivers.
Hope this helps. CentOS 6 is at version 6.10 now.
Oh, sorry: yum update is the command.

I would be very surprised if you really need to be on CentOS 6.6. Because of the way updates are handled in CentOS major releases, it's very unlikely that the software would not work on 6.10.changhye2020 wrote: ↑2019/10/08 16:30:57Hi Centos Expert,

Maybe your software vendor needs to update their OS support list.
Re: centos6.6 9th i5 cpu problem?
It can be quite amazing how software vendors suddenly change their minds if you start asking them questions like "so are you willing to indemnify me against any losses we might experience as a result of being hacked as a result of being unable to install security updates?"...
