Welcome to CentOS.
New members need to read:
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=47

You did not say what your problem is, but forget about using it as a RAID controller.
It is not a RAID controller. It uses Windows software RAID drivers.
If it works at all, use Linux software RAID.

From SilconImage homepage , Sii1324 support LINUX system.
from my CentOS, i can see sii1324 raid card and two harddisk
my problem is :
i creat raid set from raid bios, raid set can be see in my main board bios, but CentOS only see 2 harddisk there is any no raid set
I just want to try my raid card and don't want to use software raid.

a CDROM attached in my raid card that a driver or software need to be install into Linux system but I don't how to setup the driver.

SiI 3124 is a SATA controller that's packaged with proprietary software RAID drivers for Windows. The only kind of RAID you can do with that card is software RAID.

Hi Jerry

I can say that you will not be able to use this Sil3124 card for linux RAID because this card doesn't work as a hardware RAID (the card chip onboard does not operate with RAID on hardware level) but as a support to soft RAID (with proper drivers in the OS - in this case Windows only)
so avoid using this fakeRAID cards for linux because that's why you see 2 drives in linux not 1 array, because linux driver doesn't support this card easily.

REAL HW RAID cards are like 3ware , Areca, Adaptec etc.
so try to replace the card with appropriate HW RAID card to benefit from it or use Software Raid in linux.

good luck

Hi. I've just suscribed to this forum. I just want to give thanks to hansolo for your explanation about this card.
I've purchased one in the belief that it supported hardware RAID, but the price appeared suspicious to me, too chip...
So it's true: this is a dirty trap, because if you read the specs carefully , in no place it claims to support hardware RAID,
it just says RAID (0,1,5,etc...). So , if you don?t ask before (like me), you bite the fly and buy the card.
It's as you said: it does not support hardware raid of any kind, it's just a "pseudo-configuration" for a software RAID,
accesible only thru the proprietary vendor drivers; and only for WIndows, because Linux drivers on the vendor page are
for Red Hat Linux 4 only (32 bits).

Hopefully, other people read this and buy a REAL RAID card!. It will be more expensive, but you get what you want.

I must leave now. I'm going to create my SOFTWARE RAID 5....
:-x :-x :-x
Cheers.-
