Media Player Plugins problems.

Post by satyaveerarya » 2011/07/19 19:21:02

Hello Everyone,

I tried to play .mp3 songs and movie also but it showed the message MPEG-1 (mp3) plugins missing, unable to find the plugins. Help me to solve the problem. I will be thankful to you..

It also shows the message -- could not find plugin in any configured software.

Needs an update for CentOS-6 but the Wiki article TipsAndTricks/MultimediaOnCentOS should help point you in the right direction.

I do not know it it was luck or if the system did truly correctly prompt me through everything, but here is how I got DVDs to play on a fairly standard CentOS 6.0.

I used the GUI package manager and installed all *libdvd* stuff.

I just put in a DVD (of a .wmv file) and Totem started.

Totem told me it could not play it, but then proceeded to prompt me through 3 sets of file groupings that were needed to get DVDs to play. I can now play them. (You will be prompted for the root password.)

I can only say this worked for me. I did try the CentOS 5 Wiki instructions, but the very first command line entry failed for me.

And you specifically said mp3. I am sooo sorry. I replied for DVDs. My bad.

See if just the sound-juicer program can play the file.
