How to install Google Chrome Browser [solved]
How to install Google Chrome Browser [solved]
I'm new to Centos and wanted to know how to install Google Chrome browser. I've seen some instructions but they didn't work. Is there one good way to install it? Firefox is OK but I still like Chrome better.

Re: How to install Google Chrome Browser
Chrome is not built to run on CentOS 6 but you can get chromium builds from http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/chromium/6/
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Hi community!
About Chromium for Centos 6.x
All you need to do is to import
http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/chrom ... m-el6.repo
file, into
/etc/yum.repos.d/chromium-el6.repo
So,
$ su - root
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
# wget http://people.centos.org/hughesjr/chrom ... m-el6.repo
# yum install chromium
If you look at the file,
The version built for CentOS is enabled=1,
the SRPMS, CentOS source, is dis|enabled=0, and
the Debug packages are dis|enabled=0 as well.
Enjoy.

Re: How to install Google Chrome Browser [solved]
It should be noted that the Chromium repo mentioned in this thread is currently out-of-date (last release is Chromium 31 from Feb 2014) compared to the latest Google Chrome release (version 34 from May 2014).
You may want to try my script at http://chrome.richardlloyd.org.uk/ which not only downloads the latest Google Chrome release, but also sets up the system so that future "yum update" commands will update Google Chrome as part of your normal update process.
