[SOLVED] modprobe ip_gre ipv6?

Post by igro » 2014/02/27 12:43:37

i had a problem with loading of gre module:
modprobe ip_gre
FATAL: Error inserting ip_gre (/lib/modules/2.6.32-431.5.1.el6.x86_64/kernel/net/ipv4/ip_gre.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
dmesg:
ip_tunnel: Unknown symbol icmpv6_send
i tried to disable ipv6 but it seems like not installed:
sysctl -p
error: "net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6" is an unknown key
error: "net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6" is an unknown key
i think traffic can't pass through gre protocol because of this module so in windows i see error 807.

You have most probably disabled loading the ipv6 module, but that's not a good way to disable IPv6 (if you really need to do that). Perhaps you have "install ipv6 /bin/true" in /etc/modprobe.d/ipv6.conf or similar. Get rid of that, and if you still need to disable IPv6, do so by following the instructions in the wiki.

I disabled it in /etc/modprobe.d so when i removed ipv6.conf it loaded fine after reboot.
