Hello,
A web server using CentOS 6.X and I want to upgrade it to CentOS 8. If I change the address of repositories, then is it enough?
I must upgrade to 7.X then to 8?
Thank you.
Upgrade CentOS 6.X to CentOS 8.
Re: Upgrade CentOS 6.X to CentOS 8.
No. Never try those tricks.
You have two things: OS and website content.
1. Install new OS
2. Transfer website content to the new system
As already said: there is no "upgrade" from one CentOS Linux major version to other. Always a fresh install.
PS. If you mean CentOS Linux 8 with the "CentOS 8", then you should have noticed that CentOS Linux 8 will be dead at the end of this year. Consider some other OS.

For a big website!!!!
Why not that trick?
Why not that trick?

Because it will break. And it's explicitly unsupported and if you try it and it breaks (which it will) then you get to keep all of the pieces.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
