Unable to Install Centos 6.10 via bootable USB to Intel® NUC Kit NUC7PJYH2

Post by etak » 2020/03/31 11:43:16

Dear All,
Good Day,

Two months before in Intel® NUC Kit NUC7PJYH2 with hard disk Samsung 860 Evo via bootable USB with CentOS-6.10-x86_64-LiveDVD.iso (which created with Rufus 3.9), I managed and installed the OS CentOS-6.10 without any problem.

I bought another NUC of the same model with hard disk Samsung 860 Evo, i used the same USB stick but the OS CentOS-6.10 is unable to install.

When I choose the USB appears the Centos logo to my screen for a few seconds and then receives the error below.(see pic1).
------
kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill inint !
PId: 1, comm: init not tainted 2.6.32.-279-5.2.e16.x86_64 #1

------

I tried to create the iso to 3 different USB models via Rufus 3.9 & Rufus 3.8 & PowerISO apps but the error appears again.

I have already updated the bios to the latest version(54) and the "secure boot" has been disabled form the GUI of the device.

Also, i tried to return back the bios to the previous version(53) but the issue still persists.

Have you any idea for the malfunction above and how i proceed with the installation of OS CentOS-6.10?

Many thanks in advance.

Don't use Rufus to create USB sticks, it often breaks them. Use dd to copy the iso to a whole device. Boot that.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
