I need to migrate to hyper-v machine as above. How should this be done correctly. I tried clonezilla but when recovering to a virtual disk, I received an error "Restoring theVG config... Couldn't find device with uuid (uuid...), Cannot restore Volume Group VolGroup00 with 1 PVs marked as missing"

CentOS 5? Really? It died over 3 years ago and there have been no security updates for it since. It's not safe to use so the best thing you can do is invest the time you're currently spending on working out how to migrate it to a supported version. Even as a VM it's still jsut as insecure as it was before and it won't ever get any better, only worse.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
