Centos 6.1 uefi and pxe boot support

Post by denmat » 2011/08/01 07:49:20

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if you can install centos 6.1 via pxe boot using uefi. I can use pxe to boot to the grub prompt but I can't seem to get further.

Is this installation method supported in 6.1?

Thanks,
Den

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

Since CentOS 6.1 has not been released no installation methods are supported. :-)

In CentOS 6.0 testing there was a lack of available hardware to test UEFI. I'd try a normal DVD or network install first before jumping to PXE.

Try a google on uefi rhel6 OR "red hat enterprise linux 6" for more information.

Ah, where was my mind :)

Alright, I've got a host that runs uefi of course and have a short time before it has to be built, but I'm happy to test any upstream install media - can you point me to it?

The way CentOS core developers run the process 6.1 test media is only available to the QA team. I'd suggest trying CentOS-6.0 and/or SL-6.1 in the interim.
