My Votes :
Avatars - Yes, they take up no extra space, and are helpful when navigating forum pages looking for postings from certain user/s or self.
Sig images - No, these add unnecessary clutter and waste screen real estate.
My $0.02 only, GST included. Keep the change.

I'm going to agree with tuxbiker--don't make a random person register, at least to search.
(On the other hand, unfortunately, due to spammers, I can't see allowing unregistered to post, and would, furthermore, require that the first or possibly first three posts are automatically moderated before appearing.)
Avatars--I'm going to vote for the don't really care. I understand whathisname's point (but think we should keep up with Fedora to see what Desktop oriented things will be in the next release, making our jobs harder--wait till you folks see the new Anaconda).
Both arguments are reasonable, IMHO, though--it does, in a long thread, make it easier to pick out who posted so with reasonable size limits, it makes sense to me.
Sigh, put me down as either way is fine.
Ironically, I've been using an avatar on the new testing forum and don't use one on the Fedora forums, though my old persona there did.)
And, I use a signature here, and don't there. (The one about new users should read--which comes out as text between url tags on the new forum, at least at the moment)

Hi!
I think the avatars in the right side are...strange. Can this be made into a preference per user? or can it be changed by choosing a differente template or something?
Thanks!

you should be able to disable Avatars once you login, did you try that ?

While I don't pretend to speak for Skolnick, my guess is that the meaning was that usually, avatars and user name appear on the left, rather than the right.

But isnt the focus on content better with the post metadata on the right, and mostly out of sight ( for me anyway )

That is what I thought at first, but it really depends on your monitor/browser width.
Play with the browser width and you will notice that the px/% right is maintained while the desirable content is compressed.
If all the "junk" is on the left, then less horizontal space is consumed.

Re: Forum migration test -- comments solicited
I'm still concerned about "View unread posts" not having links to the new content.
I don't want to be taken to the beginning of each thread.
Other sites have a button in each thread that takes you to the first unread post in that thread.

I see now the tiny square that takes you to the unread posts.
search
Hi ,
I noticed that there are only 15 search results. i suggest decreasing the headers characters and
putting more answers on a page , it could help out and save time and queries .
