I've assumed that the sum of the columns should make about 100%.
It is better to be idle and do nothing than to fill the other columns?

Code: Select all

As a default, percentages for these individual categories are displayed.
us, user : time running un-niced user processes
sy, system : time running kernel processes
ni, nice : time running niced user processes
id, idle : time spent in the kernel idle handler
wa, IO-wait : time waiting for I/O completion
hi : time spent servicing hardware interrupts
si : time spent servicing software interrupts
st : time stolen from this vm by the hypervisor

Your top output is not showing anything that would make the system slow.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

You said "VPS". Perhaps the issue is outside of the OS?

Sir,
I have also mailed our VPS service provider informing this issue but they replied me saying below

"Upon checking the iostat output, the CPU statistics were optimal and there was no issue with the VM CPU statistics. Regarding the virtual server, you are currently using a KVM VM, so it is a fully isolated server. If you encounter any issues with the server, you should check them from inside the VM."

what should I do ? please help
