Re: how to install djview4?

Downloaded the source of djview4 but hit this: ./configure checking for shmat... yes checking for IceConnectionNumber in -lICE... yes checking for qmake... no configure: error: Cannot find the Qt program qmake. Please define variable QMAKE and possibly QMAKESPEC. Defining QTDIR can help although it ...

Re: files suddenly become readonly

Just to report back. readonly seems to go away after I increased the size of / to 50 GB. Also I place the magnetic hard drive away from
a bunch of wires that comes with the AC adapter (who knows if the strayed magnetic fields are playing some tricks here).

Re: files suddenly become readonly

Before I read the two replies, I have increased / to 50GB to minimize weird behavior. If / size is not a problem then I can't think of a good reason why this thing happen. This external 1TB disk is being used almost everyday on two other CentOS machines 6.6 or 6..1 and these two do not have this pro...

files suddenly become readonly

I have just performed a fresh install of CentOS 6.9.
Everything went well, but the files on a mounted 1T external disk become readonly very easily and suddenly.

Could it be due to the fact that /
is left with 184M?

I am going to use gparted to increase the size and see if the problem goes away.

Re: wget does not work most of the time

Thanks giulix63 for confirming. I now leave the ping window on. Once I see there is no transmission, I know that I need to restart my network manager, or rerun vncsvc. Overall the VPN connection is very unstable from time to time. I thought it was the CentOS 6.1 problem, but apparently CentOS 6.6 (m...

Re: wget does not work most of the time

update: Things seem to work a little better now but I still do not understand certain points: If I boot up CentOS 6 (with /etc/sysctl.conf containing two lines to disable ipv6) and use firefox everything is normal. Good! Now I ping a computer in my company called 10.217.164.107, nothing happens (exp...

Re: [SOLVED] my /dev/sda3 is NTFS according to fdisk . . .

Yes. By changing the id to 83, now my 3 stanzas in grub.conf are able to boot up CentOS 6.6. If I had not learned the first way of doing, I think I am not able to boot up CentOS 6.6 at all. Please mark this as solved. Thanks. This is a tricky but fruitful experience. title DIRECT centos66-acer (sda3...

Re: my /dev/sda3 is NTFS according to fdisk but it is ext3

Okay. Will try that out soon. Thanks. Hopefully the new id will help me to install the bootloader on the first section of /dev/sda3.
