Re: RHEL to Use Cent Repo

You're getting this because your version isn't being reported correctly, so you're getting the 'Null' string listed as a version in the url.

Check your /etc/yum.conf and look at the distroverpkg setting. Make sure you have the package it names installed.

Syslog: remote host logs into individual files

rsyslog is quite good at doing this, and will very likely be the defaul logging application in centos 6 when it releases. The fedora folks have already picked up rsyslog as their default. There's a how-to for rsyslog over at http://www.bofh-hunter.com/2007/12/31/centralized-logging-with-centos-and-r...

Creating a very large filesystem of 10TB or more

Also might be worth noting that ext3 will not let you create a file system greater than 8TB without some minor tweaking. See http://www.bofh-hunter.com/2008/02/11/large-filesystem-creation/ for the necessary mkfs bits.

Re: framebuffer during boot?

This is an upstream bug with the kernel, as FB_VESA support was not included for some reason or other. A bug has been filed, and we've been told that it'll be put back into the kernel in 5.1.
