Re: Finding IRC Bots and other port listeners

You are both partially correct but you miss several key points. The most important point is that backing up the serving, doing a clean install, and then restoring the backup only restores the compromised site!. One has to be able to locate it before backing up. We are actually about to upgrade to Pe...

Re: Finding IRC Bots and other port listeners

Thank you for the reply but that is quite an over reaction. An IRC bot is generally harmless. I also mentioned that I black-holed the IP's so even though they think they are communicating the firewall is stopping the connection. I'm not sure that 5.5 vs. 5.8 is all that much of a difference. Besides...

Finding IRC Bots and other port listeners

Linux - Finding Port Listeners As a web host I am having trouble with CE5.5 and IRC bots making it onto the server. Hours and hours of liooing brought me to this example but it only comes close. First we need to check the status of our ports: netstat -na | grep "ESTABLISHED" tcp 0 0 192.168.0.1:3970...

Centos 4 Repository Support

I realize that CentOS is about to go to the grave yard but is the repository going as well? Even on a third party site? Can I build my own repository from the last server I built? Here is the jam that I am in and I hope and pray that you'll cut me some slack and not just tell me to upgrade. The pigg...

SATA II PCI Card that works with CE4, and 5

I am looking for a SATA II PCI card running at 100MHz and up to 3GB/s. I can fine 133MHz PCI-X cards but the motherboard specifies 100MHz. It is a Super Micro H8DAR-i dual processor Opteron and it supports PIC-X. Just not at 133.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

ERROR : asr : invalid RAID config table

I had a 3Ware 9550SX RAID controller in a system that would not load Virtuozzo 3. So I deleted the array created by the 3Ware 9550SX controller before removing it and one drive from the CentOS 4.8 server. Virtuozzo 3 won't allow CentOS 5.x. Even though I deleted the array using the 3Ware util...

Installing From CD Without Eject

I have many servers in a data center 100 miles away through Los Angeles traffic. Although I have KVM over IP there are times when hands on is needed. I have a situation now where we're doing an OS upgrade that involves loading Centos 4.7 (Virtuozzo 3 won't do CE5), load Virtuozzo (which can be done ...

Re: installing ProFtpd

This worked for me as well. I had added the repo but yum wouldn't install proftpd. enabled=1 was the missing link.

Does anyone have a link for configuring proftpd?

Thanks!

Re: Yum Upgrade Kernel from 4.7 and No Keyboard

Might help if you actually read my post wherein I stated that I can switch to the old kernel and it works fine.

Yum Upgrade Kernel from 4.7 and No Keyboard

I have installed CE 4.7 on numerous servers with different motherboards (but all Super Micro.) The servers all worked until doing a yum upgrade This, of course, upgraded the kernel as well. On all machines they became CE 4.8 but the keyboard no longer works. I can SSH into any of them, but I cannot ...
