Need Raid Controller Advice

Hi All, I am putting together a Samba server for a customer with 60 Windows clients. He has finally started file sharing. Usually I would use an LSI MegaRAID SATA controller (150-4) for such an affair, but I thought I'd ask for advice before moving forward. Are Mega RAID cards your choice for such? ...

Old RAID support in 4.4 and 5

Hi All,

Will will be upgrading an old Red Hat 7.1 server here shortly. Does anyone know
if both 4.4 and 5 will support an "LSI 4751010232A, MegaRAID Express 500 PCI Ultra 160 (160 MB/S)
RAID Controller". Is there some hardware compatibility list I can check?

Many thanks,

reuse yum cache

Hi All,

I have two 4.4 workstations (Yes, I suffer with Open Office).
One is on the Internet and one is not. Is there a way I can
use (copy to CD) my Yum cache from the Internet'ed machine
on the non-internetted machine?

Upgrade path from 4.4 to 5?

Hi All,

Will there be an upgrade path from CentOS 4.4 to 5?
Or, should we wipe and start over? (I have tried a full install
of 4.3 on top of White Box 3 and wound up with a bunch
of duplicate files. Seemed to run okay though.)

Upgrade path from Red Hat 7.1?

Hi All,

I have another server running Red Hat 7.1 (don't ask). Is
there an easy upgrade path to Cent OS 4.4? Or, should
I just wipe it and start over?

Time Frame on CentOS 5

Hi All,

I have a new server to build for a customer. Does anyone know
what the time frame is on CentOS 5? Or, should I not wait and
just use Cent OS 4.4?
