Re: gigabit NIC

CentOS 4 will never use any kernel other than 2.6.9 as that is what is provided by the upstream vendor. CentOS 5 will use a newer version.

If you're looking for a NIC that works out of the box then look at the Intel PRO/1000 GT.

Re: How to configure PHP5 and Mysql 5

Did you run "yum --enablerepo=centosplus install php-mysql" or just "yum install php-mysql"?

In either case, you might want to check out the How-to on my site (see sig link) for installing PHP 5.1.6.

Re: How CentOS works with multiprocesor hardware - your experiences

CentOS is built from RHEL AS. Anything that RHEL AS can do, CentOS can do.

Re: CentOS 4.4 64bit will not see all 4GB of ram. Only 3GB

Are you sure the machine has 4 GB of RAM? What does the BIOS say? They might have installed (2) 1GB modules and (2) 512MB modules.

How-To: Upgrade to PHP 5.1.6 w/ RPMs on RHEL/CentOS 4

Because this comes up frequently, I decided to come up with a how-to on upgrading your system to use PHP 5.1.6. You can find it at the perm link below. Please digg the story at the second link if you find it useful. [url=http://www.jasonlitka.com/2006/11/21/upgrading-php-rhel4-centos4/]Upgrading PHP...

Re: Jabber in CentOS

Did you click the link that Lenard provided? You can get WildFire from there (it's what I use on my server here at work).

Here's a more direct link:

Re: qmail help

Those packages are a part of the Plesk server management system. If you haven't paid for it, you probably won't be getting those RPMs. If you have paid for it and you have it installed, you should be able to get those packages by using the updater in the web gui.

MS Exchange is an enterprise application. Any comparable replacement is not going to be free.
