Re: Dovecot system log error message

How often does the server lock up on you? And did you verify that the server doesn't lock up, if dovecot isn't ever running?

Re: Max open file descriptors stuck at 1024?

Apache itself is actually built with a hard limit default of 1024 file descriptors. You'd have to recompile httpd with the new limit. Edit all the header files in /usr/include which contain FD_SETSIZE and define FD_SETSIZE as your new limit, rebuild httpd, and add the ulimit command to the httpd ini...

Re: how to install php-gd

It just occured to me that since you're using php 4.4.1, you may not be using a yum. Are you?

If that above doesn't ork for you, let me know how you got php installed in the first place and I'll be able to give you more info on how to enable php's gd libraries.

Re: Yum is hanging

Try this:
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
And run the command again.

This clears rpm's cache and forces it to rebuild. Which often times fixes a hanging error.

error: %pre(clamav-db-0.86.2-1.2.el4.rf.i386) scriptlet fail

The Fedora Core 3 RPMs for clamav will work with CentOS 4. I use it just fine on my production system.

http://crash.fce.vutbr.cz/crash-hat/3/clamav/

Fedora Core 4 won't work :) So don't bother trying that one.

Be sure to uninstall what you have tried to first.

Hope this helps!

Text Console with X11

When the server boots in runlevel 5 and you have your Gnome or KDE login screen, you can press Ctrl + Alt + F4 and that will drop the terminal window to a console, and X11 will still be running on the machine.

Hope this helps!

It'll automatically resolve the dependanceis for you. As for a "Webserver-System" you should try out this project: http://www.ravencore.com/ Work...

I'm in hawaii. Gas price a few days ago was ( at its cheapest ) $2.48 / galon

Last night, I paid ( at that very same station, cheapest on island ) $2.69 / galon

The gas station near my house ( which is probably the most expensive ) was selling gas at $2.88 / galon

Re: mysql does not appear in phpinfo

Check to see if php-mysql is installed... rpm -q php-mysql If it is already there, just restart apache. If not, install it. yum -y install php-mysql service httpd restart Then refresh your phpinfo page. If it's still not there, I'm pretty much stumped  and would have to be on the box to figure ...
