Re: dracut[10797]: Failed to install module BusLogic

Hmm, it might have been a vmware issue, not CentOS directly. I reverted back to a previous snapshot, uninstalled open-vm-tools, and yum update had no issue running a 2nd time.

dracut[10797]: Failed to install module BusLogic

I'm getting the error message in the subject line when trying to update a CentOS 7.4 server to CentOS 7.7. The servers are vmware. The virtual scsi adaptor is LSI logic, not BusLogic. When I run "yum update" it installs about 225 packages. and when yum goes to "Cleanup", I start getting broadcast me...

Re: Huge number of "type=SECCOMP" audit log entries

aks - by 'worried' do you mean worried about malicious activity going on?

The system calls referenced in the log file are

sys call 2 = sys_fork
sys call 87 = sys_swapon

The process ID's appear to be Firefox processes - is Firefox maybe going a little berserk with the system calls?

Huge number of "type=SECCOMP" audit log entries

I've got a user reporting his gnome-shell process starts maxing out his CPU usage, and his workstation appears to freeze. He has rebooted twice to get his machine back, or else goes to a different workstation, SSH into his workstation and kill the processes consuming all the CPU. When I look in /var...

samba service fails to start after update

I applied updates last Friday to an NFS file server - the system got updated from CentOS 7.3 to 7.7. A user complained today that his mapped file share from his Windows workstation wouldn't mount his samba share on the NFS server. I checked the file server and the smb service isn't starting. journal...

Re: nfs mounting is flakey

It took awhile to get a full 'yum update' scheduled, but that seemed to do the trick. The NFS mounts are pretty fast and reliable now.
Thanks

nfs mounting is flakey

I'm having some issues getting some remote mounts to work correctly. Both server and client are CentOS 7 (the server is a little older - 7.3 ; the clients are mostly 7.7) /etc/fstab has the remote mounts configured that it's trying to access. If you run mount -a to manually mount the remote share in...

Re: How to disable "you have updates" pop up window?

You wouldn't think it would work if they didn't have admin privileges, but it's happened twice to me now, and neither of them had sudo access.
