SOLVED

Was able to resolve it. My (somewhat wordy) notes are below. Permission Denied Trying to access X.X.X.in-addr.arpa results in ... :permission denied So that's not good. I've heard (@crashdog) that is probably linked to a SELinux rule. So now let's see if I can use `audit2allow` to fix the problem. H...

Re: named error: permission denied

Thanks for the lead! A quick search shows that SELinux may just be the culprit. Let me check it out.

[SOLVED] named error: permission denied

So before I started the named service, I ran the named-check tests to make sure everything was working: # named-checkconfig -z /etc/named.conf zone home.virtnet/IN: loaded serial 20150715 zone 10.10.10.in-addr.arpa/IN: loaded serial 20150715 zone localhost.localdomain/IN: loaded serial 0 zone localh...

Well, none of the above worked, but I did want to post a follow-up just in case anyone else stumbled across this. I ended up resorting to putting two NICs on each VM. One being NAT'd to the default network and one belonging to an isolated virtual network 'virtnet' that I made. The biggest problem th...

Libvert Networking to Separate VM LAN

I am attempting to create a LAN with a separate subnet for the VMs that I'm creating on my KVM host (using eth0 for access to host and eth1 for VM access). One of the VM's will be offering DHCP and DNS services to the rest of the VMs. Another is going to be a Spacewalk server so that I can do automa...

Just an introduction

Hey my name's Andrew, and I just picked up CentOS recently after getting a used server-farm box at a steal. I've been setting up some VM's on it and have been running into some networking stuff that I haven't had much experience with. Before this, I was converted after I got the blue screen of death...
