Software RAID and GRUB2

I've searched but I can't find a procedure or tutorial on how to do the following: 1: How to make sure that boot will work if the drive where anaconda installed the boot loader fails? 2: If it hadn't been done before is there a way to recover when the boot loader drive fails? From what I see, I've g...

Update From CentOS 7.5 To CentOS 7.7 Warning

I've got a custom machine running a ASrock motherboard and a AMD Phenom II 1055T processor & 24 GB RAM. All seems to be perfect on CentOS 7.5 but when I do 'yum -y update' and perform a reboot at the beginning of the boot I get a warning message concerning my processor (it says it hasn't been tested...

Re: Naming RAID Devices

I produced the following by entering 'mdadm --examine --scan' on 2 differnt machines From a system the had the filesystem defined under CentOS 6 (software RAID): [root@jpdsys1 /]# mdadm --examine --scan | more ARRAY /dev/md/0 metadata=1.0 UUID=af8c89ea:29a497f5:01c5c52b:7ddd5220 name=jpdsys1.jpdesig...

Re: Naming RAID Devices

As far as mdadm.conf is concerned there are differences: Here's a /etc/mdadm.conf the was migrated from a CentOS 6 system: # mdadm.conf written out by anaconda MAILADDR root AUTO +imsm +1.x -all ARRAY /dev/md/jpdsys1.jpdesignsinc.com:0 level=raid1 num-devices=2 UUID=af8c89ea:29a497f5:01c5c52b:7ddd52...

Naming RAID Devices

My environment consists of several Windows desktops, and 4 machines running CentOS 7. It's the servers that this question is about. All of the servers were migrated for CentOS 5 to CentOS 6 and now CentOS 7. All of the servers use RAID-1 and RAID-10. All of the servers were using the following: RAID...

Re: KVM VM Networking Issue

I see what you are saying and after setting up a single physical NIC and all is working, I plan on leaving it that way. I use nmon and I'll check the monitored throughput. Then what I'll do is create another Bridge and split the VMs between the 2.

TIA

Re: KVM VM Networking Issue

First of all let me say to everyone - Thank you for all of your help. I found a tutorial where the bridge was defined using virt-manager as opposed to doing everything via command line. One of the odd things about this tutorial was that you had to delete the existing virtual network configured for D...

Re: KVM VM Networking Issue

OK, I followed a suggestion where the Bridge is defined using virt-manager where the bridge uses a single physical NIC. If I need more bandwidth I'll add another Bridge. The VM was built using virt-install in a bash script. And everything is working just fine in the VM it can 'see' the entire LAN an...

Re: KVM VM Networking Issue

OK, Let me bring you up to date on this issue, yes it still exists! I have not commented on this issue because I got side tracked by major hardware issues (due to bad weather I lost my cable modem; router for our home security; our personal router; a 24-port Netgear unmanaged switch; a 24-port D-Lin...

KVM VM Networking Issue

OK, I've rebuilt my machine using CentOS 7.6 and so far everything is work quite well. So now it's time to build my KVM virtual machines to run Apache 2.4, and other stuff. Under CentOS 6 I used a bash script to execute virt-install to build the VM. I compared the CentOS 6 virt-install parameters to...
