Re: What do you think of the recent Red Hat announcement about CentOS Linux/Stream?

Red Hat was great because the ecosystem. CentOS was the plankton in the Red Had ecosystem. No CentOS means the big red whale will starve to death, given time.

Thar She Blows!! Ha ha ha!

Re: CentOS 8 will die and be replaced by Stream

Oracle From being the first to be rejected, Oracle is now my preferred solution. The transition looks smooth. For me, not an option. I would go back to MS-DOS before running a OS from Oracle, or anything from Oracle for that matter. If my hourly rate is X, I would charge 50X if I had to deal with a...

Re: CentOS 8 will die and be replaced by Stream

A jump to Debian-based distro from RPM-based distro is probably quite a leap in configuration, practices, and non-packaged application compatibility. I've seen only a brief glimpse of Ubuntu and couldn't make heads or tails out of it. Not for me. Although I've long run CentOS on production servers,...

Re: CentOS 8 will die and be replaced by Stream

Any suggestions for a ROCK STABLE non-rolling release OS? Instead of kicking the tires of CentOS 8.3 , if and when it comes out, I'm going to start kicking the tires of a whole lot of other OS's IMMEDIATELY that could possibly REPLACE CentOS 8.x. Please list below any alternatives you might recomme...

Re: RHEL 8.0 beta released

Here are the release notes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0 Beta: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8-beta/html-single/8.0_beta_release_notes/ My take on them (in bold what I like, the rest not so much): Stratis, local storage manager, use it to manage RAIDs, Log...

Re: Now that Red Hat is turning Blue...

If you think it is bad that IBM bought RedHat, wait until you see Microsoft buying Canonical and then you tell me what you think about it. I think CentOS will keep going, because CentOS helps build mindshare for RHEL, otherwise freelance developers could not afford RHEL and when deploying in product...

Re: Centos 5 and Hyper V

These are steps they did to get it to the login screen in their labs, but when we do the same, we get the above message I have trouble understanding your message. Are you saying Microsoft Support successfully migrated your CentOS 5 VM to Azure, but you cannot replicate such a successful migration t...

Remove abrt. It's not much use unless you have a support contract with RedHat.
