Just noticed this message today when I made a remote connection to my CentOS 8 server: This system is not registered to Red Hat Insights. See https://cloud.redhat.com/ To register this system, run: insights-client --register Activate the web console with: systemctl enable --now cockpit.socket I went...

Re: nut-monitor

After searching for hours and trying to make this run I gave up on NUT-Monitor. From what I can tell the code is just too outdated to run on the current version of Python that comes with CentOS 8. At least I have NUT working and can use the CLI so I can communicate with my UPS. If anyone has any sug...

nut-monitor

Greetings all, Has anyone been able to get the gui "NUT-Monitor" for NUT working in CentOS8? I have successfully installed NUT and verified communications with my UPS by using upsc but I cannot get NUT-Monitor to run. First it threw errors about not finding python so I changed the shebang lines in N...

Re: HP network printer setup

I'm guessing that somewhere along the way of trying to get it to work my python was upgraded. The documentation on the HP Linux Imaging and Printing website is not good and it didn't help that CentOS was not listed as a distro in the drop down on the download page. I figured the Red Hat Enterprise L...

Re: How to install apcupsd on Centos 8?

yum --disablerepo=\* --enablerepo=extras downgrade epel-release will downgrade to the copy that we ship in extras and reinstate those files and then a yum update will update it to the latest. Wow! Thank you Trevor! That was a scary looking command with the "--disablerepo=\*" part and I wouldn't hav...

Re: How to install apcupsd on Centos 8?

Just yum reinstall epel-release and it will replace the missing files. Sorry, I should have mentioned I already tried that: yum reinstall epel-release Last metadata expiration check: 2:40:28 ago on Tue 19 Nov 2019 09:07:23 AM EST. Installed package epel-release-8-7.el8.noarch (from epel) not availa...
