Re: openssl, sslv2 & sslv3 testing

SSL2 has been deprecated and suggested not to be used for years. I've been dealing in SSL for at least 8 years and it has been a no-no for at least that long. Probably longer, in fact. SSLv3 and TLS 1.0 have both been shown to not be secure as of maybe three years ago. Heartbleed and various other a...

Re: BitCoin

Ohhhhhh, long gone are the days where you could easily mine a few btc with your home PC and it would be worthwhile.

But then again, that was also when btc were ranging $4-10 USD each.

Self-regulating systems tend to do that.

Re: unable to ping windows machines with hostname

To look up a hostname, you need some kind of resolver. Either DNS or a local file or WINS server if you wish to use that. Your DNS settings are using google for your DNS. Google will not have your local machines name to resolve. So you need to do it another way. So either you need a local DNS server...

Re: Firewalld

This is exactly what I needed to do a few weeks ago. I set my active zone to public and attached my interface to that. I removed all services from that zone. I then defined the sources I wanted to allow to ssh and the ssh service to the internal zone. Most of what I was dealing with was on C7 but fe...

Re: apt-key add with yum and .exe install

Just doing some poking around, there is no Geforce Experience that Nvidia releases for linux. So you're going to need to do some fiddling and investigation to figure out whether you can run that on linux.

Re: Terminated message is showing after reboot

No I am not getting the grub. while centos 8 installed and reboot firs time no grub is showing, instead it showing the installation options. From there I can choose "Troubleshooting" and then rescue mode. So you put in your install media (DVD or USB), boot to that. Get a menu to install/troubleshoo...

Re: Terminated message is showing after reboot

So what are the sequence of events upon booting? Obviously you are getting to grub, as you've mentioned you are going into rescue mode. There's nothing else that shows up out of the ordinary? I suspect the issue might be with VirtualBox as well. Was this an old VM that you installed C8 over the curr...

Re: firewall-cmd, can't block dhcp request

I just went through something similar on one of my servers where certain requests were passing even though I thought they should be blocked. It had to do with how the zones are configured within firewalld. I will admit, I only did enough reading and understanding to sort my means. I wanted to limit ...
